I think I just applied for a work-study job.
Was there any good reason for that?
Am I a closet masochist?
The fact that I had the option to let people answer that question is hilarious.

ISRAEL: JANUARY 5th: Day 7
lasted a lot longer than expected - but it was 100% worth every bit.
(I only have 2 pictures from that day - I was too depressed to take pictures, having been under the impression that I’d lost all the others.)
The morning was the Garden Tomb, at the supposed “place of the skull,” near a vineyard, supposedly better fitting the details of the site of Jesus’ burial than...

ISRAEL: JANUARY 4th: Day 6
That day… was so full of riddles, it was absolutely absurd. There were pink elephants involved, as well and bungeeing, green glass doors, sultans, and many others.
But the first thing that matters is Masada. We were told that it is both an important piece of history and an important Jewish symbol.
Herod built the absurd place in all of its glory (according to...

ISRAEL: JANUARY 3rd: Day 5
Camels.Me and Emily on a camel.Bishops on a camel.Everything is silly a little bit. After the camel rides (why is it even possible to use a phrase like that?), we walked the “Palm Sunday Path” starting from the Mount of Olives. We stopped for a reading and a song at the place where Jesus is said to have wept over Jerusalem. I loved that for so many reasons. One was that Sam gave a...

ISRAEL: JANUARY 2nd: Day 4
Old Jerusalem day - it started with Zak telling us that we would do the most walking that day. Mostly just because the bus only took us to Jerusalem and to lunch, nowhere else. We had to go through security to get into the city. Brad wasn’t allowed in with his guitar, so he basically missed the morning. At least he’s been to Israel before.
It was also the second time we had seen...

ISRAEL: JANUARY 1st: Day 3
New years. Was Bethlehem. At first, we stopped to overlook the city (O Little Town? I think not!) before going in. The in and out of that place brought to life everything described by Father Chacour. Signs outside the entrance to Bethlehem said peace… these signs hung from a wall laced with barbed wire.
Once inside, the shepherds’ field was our first stop. There was a gorgeous...

ISRAEL: DECEMBER 31st: Day 2
Elias Chacour was our first stop on day 2 (sorry there are no pictures). We got some literature on him that we were supposed to read before going to see him, but I didn’t realize that Haifa would be our first stop. Honestly, I had no idea what was going on besides that he’s a Melkite Catholic Archbishop who founded a school where children of many religions study together, and that...

ISRAEL: DECEMBER 30th: Day 1
Wake-up call at 6:30. Breakfast. Fried eggs. Tastiness. Yum.
Our first stop was the sea of Galilee, and a boat ride - and the fact that it was raining seemed very appropriate. We could see a lot from the boat (really, the sea is a lake, so it wasn’t terribly difficult to see everything around it), including Tiberius (where our first hotel was), the Mt. of Beautitudes,...
I GOT MY ISRAEL PICTURES BACK.
EXPECT SOME SOON.

ISRAEL: The Arrival
At 10:50 PM EST on December 28, 2010, I boarded a plane for Israel.
At 6:00 PM (Israel time) on December 29, 2010, we landed.
And sometime over the course of the trip (from which I returned last night), I accidentally reformatted my camera’s memory card. How does one manage to accidentally reformat a camera’s memory card, you ask?
I have absolutely no idea.
Because I’m...
